GFSCA issues statement over Guyana Softball Cup 5 finals issue

“THE Guyana Floodlight Softball Cricket Association (GFSCA), the organising body of the Guyana Softball Cup 5, would like to take this opportunity to express high levels of gratitude to the hundreds of fans who turned out to witness the finals of the fifth edition of the tournament on Sunday evening.Indeed, the atmosphere at the Demerara Cricket Club was befitting of what the GFSCA has always striven to achieve, that is to create quality on-field action in a family-oriented environment.
However, the GFSCA, like the eager fans who turned out to witness the action, is extremely disappointed by the incident that led to the abrupt end to the Open final between New York Softball Cricket League and Regal.
We, the members of the GFSCA, wish to register our disapproval of such behaviour, which no doubt brought the game into disrepute, and would like to apologise to all and sundry for the unceremonious end to the game.
It must be noted that the GFSCA members tried their best to have the game restarted, but such ambitions proved beyond our control. We wish to make it absolutely clear that systems are being implemented to avoid a recurrence of Sunday’s incident in future Guyana Softball Cups.”
