THE preliminary stage of the fourth annual COURTS Pee Wee Under-11 Schools football competition wrapped up yesterday after three weekends of action at the Banks DIH Ground, Thirst Park. Sixteen teams have qualified for the next round from the six groups with the top two teams advancing along with the four best third-place finishers.
They are St. Pius, North Georgetown, Enterprise, Stella Maris, Winfer Garden, South Ruimveldt, West Ruimveldt, St. Stephen’s, St. Agnes, F.E. Pollard, Smith’s Memorial, St. Margaret’s, St. Ambrose, Comenius, St. Angela’s and Tucville.
Another emphatic performance from St. Angela’s led them to top Group F ahead of Tucville. Coming off a 9 – 0 win against Sophia last week, St. Angela’s humbled School of the Nations by a 10 – 0 margin yesterday.
They were led by Keyon Douglas once again who added four goals to the five he recorded last week.
Douglas scored in the 11th, 15th, 16th and 32nd minutes and was supported by his teammates Antonio McArthur (7th & 18th), Nickone Dover (12th & 20th), Kenroy Cadogan (13th) and Seon Carto (39th).
St. Margaret’s out played St. Ambrose 6 – 0 as Makhi Adams, recorded a helmet-trick scoring in the 3rd, 5th, 20th and 32nd minutes while Josiah King (7th & 28th) chipped in with a double.
St. Pius also won 6 – 0 in their encounter against Rama Krishna. Sherwin Nelson and Sherwin Jones both had doubles while Brandon Sellman scored once in the first half and Kishawn Fraser found the back of the net once in the second half.
Comenius and North Georgetown were awarded walk over victories against East La Penitence and St. Sidwell’s.
Enterprise sank St. Gabriel’s 3 – 0 with a goal each from Martin King, Garfield Caesar and Seon Archibald in the second half.
Stella Maris needled Winfer Garden as Keshawn Andrews produced the decider in the 29th minute.
St. Agnes won 2 – 0 against Smith’s Memorial compliments of Daniel Pollard (6th) and Mwange Smith (23rd).
Justin Bovell’s third minute goal was enough to give South Ruimveldt a win over St. Stephen’s while Tucville won 2 – 0 against Sophia. Rayheem Marques and Shaquille Sargeant accounted for a goal each.
F.E. Pollard eased past Marian Academy 2 – 1. Terrence Pearson (4th) and Jamal December (19th) scored for F.E. Pollard while Malik Barker was Marian Academy’s scorer.
West Ruimveldt’s 4 – 0 win over J.E. Burnham was carved on goals from Justin Persaud (10th), Michael Oie (15th), Delon Eastman (30th) and Tyrese Payne (38th).
