Paul PalmerJr. to lead new-look Jamaica Scorpions in PCL

THE Jamaica Scorpions, new name and all, will be lead into the West Indies Cricket Board Professional Cricket League (PCL) for the first time by Paul Palmer Jr.While the team is playing in the league’s second instalment, the unit had no name before and were called the Jamaica Franchise.
The Jamaica Franchise was led by Tamar Lambert, long-time Jamaica captain, who now finds himself out of the national setup.
There was also no place for Leeward Islands wicketkeeper-batsman Devon Thomas who had sought a pay-for-play contract with the Jamaican outfit. Young Guyana batsman Trevon Griffith was also left on the sideline.
Of the players from other Caribbean islands hoping to get in with the Scorpions, only Kirk Edwards, the 30-year-old Barbadian who has played 17 Tests for the West Indies made the cut.
Palmer, now 23 years old, also skippered Jamaica’s under-19 outfit previously.
The left-handed opener is making his first appearance for a Jamaican outfit at the senior level.
And leads a young team that will look to the likes of Edwards, Carlton Baugh Jr, Nikita Miller and David Bernard Jr for guidance.
The other members of the squad are; John Campbell, Brandon King, Chadwick Walton, Andre McCarthy, Damion Jacobs, Marquino Mindley, Jason Dawes and Nicholson Gordon.
