Charlestown Secondary gearing up for golden jubilee celebrations

IN celebration of its 50th anniversary, Charlestown Secondary School at 44 ‘A’ Howes and Charles Streets, Georgetown has a calendar of activities to usher in their golden jubilee observance.Through the joint efforts of the head teacher, the staff, the Parent-Teacher Association and the overseas alumni, they have planned a week of activities that starts with a Church Service on October 4, a Rally and Teachers Day Celebrations along with a Career Day on October 5, Open Day and Exhibition on October 7, Graduation and Prize-Giving on October 8, Teachers Fun Day at midday on October 9 and a Bar-b-Que and Lime on October 10 at the school compound.

Teacher Allison Cosbert told this newspaper yesterday that the series of activities, starting from October 4 to October 10, is geared to bring people together and brighten the image of the school.

The funding for the activities, Cosbert said, was contributed by the PTA and the Overseas Alumni and the list of activities is geared towards the transformation of the school and lifting the spirits of students as well. (Michel Outridge)
