ACTING on a report that armed men were observed in the Powis Landing area of the Five Star Backdam in the North West District, a party of policemen travelled to the area on Wednesday night, and came under fire at a house, where they unearthed a quantity of marijuana and what is suspected to be cocaine.Police reported that at about 20:30 hrs on Tuesday September 23, 2015, police ranks, acting on a report, went to a house in the area where armed men were reportedly seen, and the police came under fire. The ranks returned fire, and a number of men managed to run out of the building and escape.

The premises were searched, and 550 grammes of marijuana and 40 grammes of what is suspected to be cocaine were found.
Investigations are in progress.
