‘Hire purchase’ killer remanded –case for recall on Oct 13

OSWALD Junior Yaw, also known as ‘Meow’ and ‘Jason’, of East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was yesterday remanded by city magistrate Ann McLennan on an indictable charge of murder.

Particulars of the charge allege that on September 10, at Herstelling, East Bank Demerara, he murdered Nathan Andrew Persaud in pursuant of an arrangement wherein money was promised by Beverly Persaud as consideration to him for causing the death of the deceased.

The unrepresented 21-year-old security guard made a teary-eyed entrance into the courtroom, and stated his occupation and age to the court.

Police prosecutor Deniro Jones requested that the matter be heard on the same day when the alleged mastermind of the murder, Beverley Persaud, will make her second court appearance.

The court granted the prosecution’s request, and the matter was set for October 13 for report.
