New EU envoy arrives in Guyana

NEWLY appointed Ambassador of the European Union to Guyana, Mr Jernej Videti, on Monday, paid a call on Vice-President and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Carl Greenidge, to whom he presented copies of his credentials.Ambassador Videti is expected to present his Letters of Credence to President David Granger on Wednesday after which he will officially take up his duties as Ambassador and Head of Delegation of the European Union in Guyana, a release from the EU office here said.
Ambassador Videti, who arrived in Guyana over the weekend, is married and has a daughter. He hails from Slovenia and previously served as its Ambassador to Montenegro. Over the next four years he will continue to build on the already well-established relations between Guyana and the European Union.
