MINISTER of Finance Winston Jordan yesterday announced a reduction in gasoline and diesel prices, effective today. At GuyOil stations countrywide, the price for diesel will now be $168 per lite, down from $174.77, while the price of gasoline will also see a reduction of $11, taking it to $199 per litre.
According to Minister Jordan, his Government is committed to bringing ease to the people of the country, hence the decision to drop the price of certain fuels.
He said the Government hopes that this reduction in prices will have a trickle-down effect, benefiting all sections of the population. However, the main groups targeted are those who transport students, taking into consideration the fact that school will soon be re-opened.
“I hope that this benefit is passed down especially on to the school- children,” said the minister.  (GINA)
