Over 50 entries received for BLUTC race meet on Sunday

WITH just a few days away over 50 horses have been entered so far for the Bush Lot United Turf Club (BLUTC) one-day horserace meet set for Sunday at the club’s entity Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice. Race time is 12:30hrs.Eight races are listed for the day with cash prizes totalling over $5.5M along with trophies and other incentives up for grabs.
Chief coordinator Lakeram Sukhdeo told Chronicle Sport yesterday that the feature race is for horses classified in the ‘C’ category over 1600 metres, with the winner set to race away with $1M and trophy.
The other events on the day’s card are the Three-year-olds race for West Indies-bred horses for a winning purse of $350 000 and trophy over 1200 metres.
Then there is an event for animals classified E’1’ and Lower over for a top takings of also $350 000 and trophy over 1500 metres.
The G’2’ and Lower race will be a 1300-metre affair with the animals running for a winner’s purse of $300 000 and trophy.
The race for Two-year-olds Guyana and West Indies-bred animals is a 1000-metre contest for prize money of $300 000 and trophy.
The organisers have added the event for horses classified I and Lower and Three-year-olds Guyana-bred horses over 1300 metres for winnings of $200 000 and trophy.
The animals classified J and Lower will be competing for a first prize of $180 000 over 1300 metres.
The final event will be for K and Lower horses also over 1300 metres for spoils of $140 000 and trophy.
Sukhdeo further pointed out that the track is in excellent condition despite the recent rains.
The event will be conducted under the Rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.
