The prosecution’s case was that, on the day in question, Jamal was crossing the street on the pedestrian crossing whilst Felix was driving the said lorry. Felix admitted to seeing Jamal crossing the road, and that his right front bumper collided with her.

Felix was represented by Attorney-at-Law Mr Rabindra Rooplall, who said the defendant has been driving for more than 14 years and has no prior convictions or pending matters.

Felix had pleaded not guilty to the charge on his first appearance in court, and had been granted bail in the sum of $800,000.

Magistrate McLennan, in her ruling, stated that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt, and that the judgment was made taking into consideration the seriousness of the offence.
