Ganja smoker jailed – had told cops “Is a spliff I got, I ain’t doing nothing wrong”

A 35-year-old labourer was yesterday sentenced to one year imprisonment at the Providence Magistrate’s Court for smoking marijuana.Appearing before Magistrate Leron Daley, Nigel Boumbery of Lot 268 Grove Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, pleaded guilty to the charge that said on June 2 at Grove, he smoked marijuana.
Police Prosecutor Michael Grant said that on the day in question, the police were on patrol in the area when they saw Boumbery at a corner smoking what appeared to be cannabis.
The police approached him and told him of the offence. He replied: “Is a spliff I got, I ain’t doing nothing wrong”.
