Voir dire reveals… ‘Slim’ caution statement was voluntary

MURDER accused Troy Greene is said to have killed Bibi Raphina Saymar because of US$15,000 that was promised him by a man known as ‘Red Man’, a voir dire (a trial within a trial) at the High Court disclosed Wednesday.Greene was indicted for the murder of Bibi Raphina Saymar, said to have been committed on May 29th 2010 in the county of Demerara.

The deceased is said to have been living at a house with one Dennis Persaud who is known as ‘Indian’ or ‘Redman’.
The voir dire was conducted by Justice Navindra Singh to determine the admissibility of the caution statement.
The policeman who took the statement from the accused recorded the accused as saying how he pursued the job by entering the home of the girl and began stabbing her with a knife until she fell to the floor.
The accused said that he wrapped up the knife in a bloody bed sheet with a towel and left the girl bleeding on the floor.
Attorney-at-law Mr.Peter Hugh is defending.
