ST JOHN’S, Antigua (CMC) – The Caribbean Super Station (CSS) has been chosen as the official radio broadcaster of the NAGICO Super50 Tournament, starting tomorrow in Trinidad and Tobago, the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has announced.
WICB says all 15 matches in the tournament will be broadcast live on the CSS/GEM Radio network of stations, as well as other independent stations throughout the English-speaking Caribbean.
“We are very excited to be working once again with CSS and excited that they have decided to carry ‘live’ coverage of all the matches,” said WICB Commercial Manager Nelecia Yeates said.
“CSS will be playing an important role in our continued efforts to restore the rich heritage of West Indies cricket, promoting the talents of our players to the region and, indeed, to the World.”
The cricket will be broadcast live in Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Montserrat, St Kitts & Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent & the Grenadines and United States Virgin Islands, as well as stations in the host country.
Voices to be heard on the broadcasts include former West Indies players Colin Croft and Philip Wallace, as well as long-time play-by-play callers Andrew Mason, Stevenson Worme, Sean Devers, Vidia Ramphal and Colin Murray.
“We are delighted to once again partner with the WICB and NAGICO to ensure fans in the region can follow the tournament,” said Richard Purcell, the general manager of Caribbean Communications Limited, the operators of the CSS/GEM Stations.
“It is clear cricket still holds a special place in the hearts of many people in the region, so airing the matches was not a difficult decision. For many people, radio is still the ultimate way to follow the sport and we are thrilled to be given another opportunity to serve the fans.”
The NS50 is the WICB’s premier limited-overs event featuring the six franchise teams from the Professional Cricket League.
Defending champions, Barbados Pride, head Group A along with Guyana Jaguars, Windward Islands Volcanoes and Combined Campuses & Colleges.
Group B consists of last year’s beaten finalists T&T Red Force, as well as Leeward Islands Hurricanes, the Jamaica Franchise and the West Indies Under-19s, who are preparing for the 2016 ICC Under-19 World Cup.
