NOTABLE DATES

FEATHERWEIGHT boxer Glenn `Iceman’ Forde faced Nedrick Simmons on January 11, 1995 at the Curzon Health Centre in Ontario, Canada. Forde won the eight-round contest by a majority decision. It was the only fight that Forde had that year.

He turned professional in February 1991 and won his first fights via a fourth-round TKO. His opponent was Junior Drakes. The national super bantamweight and featherweight titles were collected before Forde reached seven fights.
He was engaged in three epic battles with Michael Parris winning one and losing the other.
In June 1993 Forde was crowned WBC FECARBOX featherweight champion. That same year he challenged for the Commonwealth super featherweight title. However, the meeting with Canadian Tony Pep ended with the Guyanese losing via unanimous decision.
Forde, who will turn 42 in November, had his last fight on June 23, 2001. He was knocked out in round two by Mexican Francisco Bojado.
`The Iceman’ ended a 10-year career with nine wins, six defeats and two draws.
