POLICE Commissioner Seelall Persaud on Sunday night turned on the switch to several colourful lights along Young Street, to the south of Police Force Headquarters.

Speaking with the Chronicle on Sunday, with music by the Guyana Police Force Band in the background, Commissioner Persaud said that the lighting up of the poles and trees along Young Street was just part of the Christmas Season and can be regarded as another of the social projects by the Guyana Police Force.
He said that the Force will be adding more lights to the already illuminated streets and poles. The Guyana Chronicle was told that before the end of the week the Guyana Police Force will also be lighting up the administrative and other buildings in Eve Leary as part of the project.
“There are more lights to come and by the end of the week you will see the real thing,” Commissioner Persaud told this media house.
On Sunday Seelall was joined by his senior officers and some divisional commanders as they sang along and listened to the Christmas carols which echoed along Young Street and surrounding areas. The music also brought out the recruits from the Felix Austin Police College who joined their seniors for the night of music and lights.
