Associations Executives looking forward to exciting duals

THE RESPECTIVE executive committees of the Berbice Football Association (BFA), East Bank Football Association (EBFA) and East Demerara Football Association (EDFA) have collectively said they are looking forward to some exciting matches in the inaugural three-way competition dubbed the Stag Super XV1 Football tournament which is set to kick off tomorrow at the Number 5 ground, West Coast Berbice.

Sixteen of the top teams drawn from these associations will be battling for supremacy and bragging rights in a knock-out setting knowing that there is no room for mistakes and all three associations are expressing gratitude to Ms. Beverly Harper, Managing Director of Ansa McAl and its Marketing Director, Troy Cadogan for partnering with them to make this competition a reality.

Apart from the $1.5m top prize which will be awarded to the lone team left standing when the dust is settled on January 1, 2015 at the Blairmont Community Centre ground, each team will start off with a plus in their bank account as they will receive a $50,000 cheque that will go towards their preparation for the competition.

A colorful march past of the participating clubs is set for 17:00hrs before the opening match, with the feature address being delivered by Ansa McAl’s Public Relations Officer Ms. Darshanie Yusuf.

Based on reports emanating from the Ancient County, the fans in the area are eager to welcome teams and other fans to the picturesque venue.
Giving the task of setting the tone for the remainder of the competition is Cougars Football Club of Berbice who will throw down the gauntlet to Soesdyke Falcons of the East Bank Association in what is anticipated to be a keen tussle.

Neither team knows much about each other but one thing is certain, only one will earn the right to earn the first quarter final berth.
The day’s feature game will be a Berbice/East Coast shindig and since these two associations recently competed against each other, it will be the renewing of rivalry when one time knock-out giants Monnederlust comes up against Golden Stars.

Some mouth watering action is anticipated so fans are urged to come out in their numbers to support what is expected to be a pleasurable evening of action.
