ELTON `The Real Coolie Bully’ Dharry would return to the ring next month for the most important fight of his career. The 28-year-old Dharry is scheduled to battle the once defeated Nicaraguan Jose Rios on December 6, for the vacant International Boxing Federation Inter-Continental bantamweight title.
The fight is scheduled for L.B. Scott Sports Auditorium in St Maarten, boxing website BoxRec reported and New York-based boxing aficionado, manager and promoter Seon Bristol believes that the time is ripe for Dharry to make a major impression or the world stage.
“In Elton Dharry we have a boxer who is gritty, committed and disciplined. Those ingredients are apposite when in the hunt for success. This fight will play a pivotal role in his career,” Bristol said.
Dharry is one of many Guyanese boxers based in the U.S. and has won his last 13 fights. His last defeat came in September 2009 when he dropped a four-round decision to Puerto Rican Isander Beauchamp.
All of his 17 professional fights have taken place in either the USA or Guyana. Dharry’s opponent for next month’s encounter has only fought in his homeland.
