COURTS (Guyana) yesterday joined the list of corporate sponsors with their contribution of $2M to GuyExpo 2014, while observing that this exhibition is the longest sustained one in the Caribbean.
Speaking at the briefing held at the Main Street branch, Clyde de Haas, Managing Director of Courts (Guyana) noted that his company is privileged to be associated with GuyExpo yet again. He said that “from the beginning we were part of the Expo and this year again we will be able to showcase everything we do in Guyana.”
LOCAL FURNITURE INDUSTRY
De Haas highlighted the store’s involvement in the furniture industry here and noted that “since Courts opened in Guyana we have supported the local furniture industry.”
He declared also that Courts (Guyana) is committed to the development of the country and in making its contribution to the growing economy, it has always supported the Ministry of Tourism and by extension the Government, whether it is the recent Guyana Festival or the Building Expo.
De Haas extended his congratulations to acting Tourism Minister, Irfaan Ali for hosting yet another GuyExpo and he anticipates much success in this venture.
GOOD CORPORATE CITIZEN
And Minister Ali noted that Courts (Guyana) and the Tourism Ministry have had many strategic alliances in a varied portfolio of activities regarding national development. Ali then said that “Courts (Guyana) is perhaps one of the best examples of a good corporate citizen” as they have continued to support and pour resources and time into national events. Ali explained that with the GuyExpo theme in mind Courts (Guyana) is one of the superior companies that is partnering with other stakeholders to achieve a better Guyana.
MODERN WAREHOUSE
Meanwhile Minister Ali disclosed that “very shortly we would be joining Courts in launching one of the most modern warehouses here in Guyana, and I can tell you it is second to none, one of its kind in the entire Caribbean.” He said that this shows that Courts (Guyana) has confidence in the country’s economy and is not centralising their investments in Georgetown but across the entire country.
Ali then thanked Courts for their continued support and their bold move to support GuyExpo.
In the meantime, the GuyExpo committee has assured that “GuyExpo is 65% completed and as such it will be finished and ready by Thursday (today).” Noting that 395 booths were sold, their target of 400 would be achieved as requests for booths were still being made.
GuyExpo 2014 will be opened today at the Sophia Exhibition Centre by President Donald Ramotar and the acting Tourism, Industry and Commerce Minister and continues until Sunday.
