COMMANDER of ‘E’ Division, Superintendent Calvin Brutus and Inspector Pitt last Sunday hosted a grand fun day for children in Linden at Victory Valley, just next to the Linden Community Centre.

The fun day saw approximately 120 children participating in various events, including various football categories ranging from ages 5 to 16 before a grand finale with over 300 spectators.
The football event had 24 teams with five persons in a team. In the under-10 event the ECDZ Block 22 were the winners while the police youths team was second.

The under-12 category saw the same ECDZ Block 22 finishing first while police youths grabbed second spot again. In the under-14 category police youth took the first position, beating ECDZ Block 22 into second place.
The under-16 category was a showcase of excitement with Linden Silver Bullet (Silvertown) being crowned champions while the police youths came second.
Meanwhile, the overall results saw police youths taking three second spots and one first, ECDZ copping two first places and one second and Silver Bullet taking one first.
After the events Commander Brutus commended the various teams for their participation and he also congratulated the spectators for coming out and giving support to the teams.

Speaking to the Chronicle, Brutus said that the fun day was one that the kids were looking forward to. He indicated that he would be planning other events for the children in the coming weeks.
Commander Brutus, since taking over the division last month, has already outlined various plans for the different communities.
“I love kids. I’m happy to know that these kids here are very skillful, they are our future. I’m going to make sure I do all that is possible to make the children in Linden happy,” Brutus said.
