THE Guyana Police Force (GPF) has said that members of the business community continue to show significant support for the Force’s “Impact Albouystown” Project, which was launched on April 14, 2014, aimed at creating positive changes in the community and enhancing police community relations through law enforcement services and social intervention activities.
On July 10, 2014, General Manager of SATRO, Mr. Joseph Satro, and Manager of the Stacie and Stacie Company, Mr. Kenneth Thomas, made donations of flashlights and football gear toward assisting with the implementation of the project.
A press release stated that the businessmen expressed their pleasure at being of assistance to the project and commended the Guyana Police Force for the initiative.
The donation was made during a meeting of the Project’s Managing Committee in the Commissioner’s Conference Room, Police Headquarters, and was chaired by Acting Commissioner, Mr. Seelall Persaud.
Accepting the presentations, Persaud expressed sincere appreciation on behalf of the Police Force and stated that the equipment will go a long way in helping to build partnerships between the police and the public.
He noted that in the fight against crime, the police have to focus on the youths and try to get them into productive ways of life, an end towards which sports can play a meaningful role.
