Let’s face it! The PNC did have a hand in Rodney’s assassination!

THE adage ‘Do nothing, fear nothing’ readily comes to mind when you see the depths and varied contortions resorted to by the presidential candidate, PNC nominee to APNU, Opposition Leader David Granger’s efforts in attempting to avoid appearing before the international Commission of Inquiry now sitting to determine who was behind the assassination of Dr. Walter Rodney in 1980.

The evidence arising out of the ongoing inquiry unambiguously and irrefutably points to the involvement of the then ruling political party, the People’s National Congress.
The picture being painted by most credible witnesses on the political and social situation at the time of the killing vividly depicts an unholy standoff between the then PNC and Rodney’s Working People’s Alliance, the latter representing an emerging groundswell of resentment against the government of the autocratic President LFS Burnham.
Determining the truth is the primary responsibility, and hopefully the final conclusion of the COI, and it behoves all conscientious Guyanese who can contribute in arriving at the truth to come forward, without hesitation, and appear with whatever evidence that can advance the cause.
David Granger and serving PNCites are all natural potential witnesses who can contribute significantly at assisting the COI in satisfying its mandate of seeking the truth, thereby putting finally to rest the scorn that has been on the national conscience for the past 34 years.
To deliberately withhold pertinent information by staying away from the COI will not only be a pervasive travesty, but downright scandalous, and will affect the political future of the PNC/APNU. Only time will tell.
The question is whether they be permitted to survive and prosper with this display of political buffoonery firmly placed at their door. Withholding evidence by staying away will forever remain a fatal criminal indictment; only a shameless guilty attitude will sustain a comfortable composure.
What a shame!
