THIS morning Justice William Ramlal will sum up the evidence in the Eon Daniels murder case, after which he will hand over the case to the jury for their consideration and verdict in relation to accused Ramsahai Boodhoo, called ‘Baejie’.On Tuesday the judge had overruled a defence no-case submission made by defence counsel, Mr.Peter Hugh and called on the accused for a defence.
The accused made an unsworn statement from the dock in which he maintained his innocence. He said that following an argument with the accused they grabbed each other, resulting in both of them falling to the ground. After getting up, “I left and went away,” he said.
Ramsohai Boodhoo, called ‘Baejie’, is accused of having on July 8, 2011 murdered Eon Daniels.
During the trial it was alleged that Eon Daniels, now deceased had entered a row as a peacemaker when he was stabbed and killed.
However, the defence is contending that there is no evidence direct or circumstantial to show that the accused committed the crime.
And counsel also pointed out to the jury that the prosecution had failed to prove that Daniels, now deceased, did not receive his injury accidentally.
On the other hand, Prosecutrix, Dhanika Singh is contending that the necessary elements in the case have been proved. She urged the jury to return a verdict in keeping with the evidence and the oath they had taken.
