THE Kennard’s Turf Club will be hosting a lunch and awards ceremony tomorrow to thank the longstanding sponsors of the club’s horse race meets over the past years.

In what could be considered a history-making occasion, according to a release, the Lunch and Awards ceremony will be held tomorrow at the club’s Grandstand at Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne, Berbice from !3:15hrs.
After prayers by Pastor Quacy Henry, honorary president Justice Cecil Kennard will deliver the welcome address and opening remarks.
This will be followed by opening remarks and introduction of the club’s executives, to be done by the club’s president Roopnarine Matadial.
Justice Kennard will deliver the feature address, while Director of Sport Neil Kumar is down to make special remarks.
Businessman Bish Panday will make a response on behalf of the various recipients of awards while Pastor Hinds will move the vote of thanks.
The presentation of awards will go to various business entities and individuals who have made horse racing at the Kennard’s Turf Club in Berbice a day to look forward to.
The main sponsors for horse racing events at the Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club are; Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) who has been sponsoring horse racing events for the past 40 years, Torginol Paints Inc. (25 years), P&P Insurance Brokers (over 20 years), Metro Office and Computer Supplies (for consistent sponsorship of $1M).
Meanwhile, Ovid Hawke (the longest serving worker), Elroy Johnson (the most dedicated caretaker) and Nikita Rose (an efficient secretary) will also be honoured.
