THE TUCVILLE Community Centre-based Fruta Conquerors Football Club last Wednesday mauled Police Football Club 13-0 when the two sides met in a Georgetown Football Association (GFA) first division league contest at the Tucville ground. In the opening match, Flamingo Football Club upset Beacons Football Club 2-1 through goals from Dwayne Layne and Ryan October in the 38th and 60th minutes respectively, while Andre Trotz scored Beacons’ lone goal in the 45th minute.
In the feature matchup, the home side quickly broke the deadlock in the third minute through a Trevon Lythcott penalty kick strike after the defender was guilty of handling the ball in the area. Their lead was doubled by Dwayne Lawrence shortly after, when he found the left-hand side of the net.
The scores read 3-0, as Jahaal Greaves scored with a well-placed shot into the right hand corner in the 25th minute and Lawrence got his double six minutes later, courtesy of a powerful shot taken from within the penalty area and rocketing past the Police custodian.
Greaves got his double in the 40th minute, slotting home to the back of the empty net from inside the penalty box before Daniel Favourite added his name to the rout just before halftime, which came with the home team leading 6-0.
The hosts continued to resist arrest from the lawmen in the second half, showing little or scant respect for their opponents as further goals by Greaves in the 51st, Lawrence (58th), Kareem Knights (61st) and a Eon Alleyne helmet-trick scored in the 63rd, 64th, 67th and 72nd minutes completed the whopping win.
