Woman, 94, remains quiet as burglars ransack house

BURGLARS broke into the home of an elderly woman at Devonshire Castle on Essequibo Coast, last week Friday, stealing her old age pension money.Reports are that Hannah Prince, 94, who lives alone, was asleep in her two-storey wood and concrete house, around 02:30 hrs, when the back door of the upper storey was breached.
The thieves ransacked the house in their search but only managed to find $10,000, which was part of the pensioner’s March grant.
Prince, who prefers to live by herself, remained very quiet in bed during the ransacking.
The nonagenarian, who has many children overseas, would visit the United States (U.S). to vacation every year. However her relatives here moved her out of the house on Saturday after the burglary incident.
Villagers claim thieves are always in the village and called for police, who are investigating the latest break-in, to increase patrols at night.
