Handy Household Remedies
SMELLY FEET:feetSoak feet in strong tea for 20 minutes every day until the smell disappears. To prepare your footbath, brew two tea bags in 2 1/2 cups of water for 15 minutes and pour the tea into a basin containing two litres of cool water.

SPLINTERS:
splinterLay scotch tape over the splinter and pull it off.
Soak the area in vegetable oil for a few minutes before removing with tweezers.

SUNBURN:
sunburnMix 2 tsp. tomato juice and 1/4 cup buttermilk. Apply to affected area. Rinse after 1/2 hour.

TOOTHACHE & MOUTH PAIN:
toothacheTo ease toothache or other mouth pain, make a tea by boiling 1tablespoon fresh peppermint in 1 cup water and adding a little salt. Peppermint is an antiseptic and contains menthol, which relieves pain when applied to skin surfaces.

ACNE, BLACKHEADS, AND PIMPLES:
pimplesDab a small amount of toothpaste (paste, not gel) on pimples before bed. This helps to dry out the pimples.
Mix equal amounts of lemon juice and rose water, apply to face with a cotton ball and allow it to sit for 30 minutes before rinsing. 15-20 days of this application helps cure pimples and also helps to remove blemishes and scars.
Apply fresh lemon juice on the affected area overnight. Wash off with warm water next morning.
For acne that hasn’t seemed to respond to anything, steep 2-3 tsp. dried basil leaves in 1 cup boiling water for 10-20 minutes, cool and apply to affected area with a cotton ball.

BRUISES:
brusiesSlice a raw onion and place over the bruise. Do not apply this to brokepotato-1n skin.

Easy Potato Skins Recipe
Ingredients
4 large baking potatoes (washed)
3 tablespoon melted butter
2 teaspoons of kosher salt
1 1/2- 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
7 slices bacon -cooked and crumbled (or 1/2 cup bacon bits)

Instructions
Pre-heat oven to 400° C. Cover a baking sheet with foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
Wash potatoes and then cut the ends of the potatoes off and discard. Next cut the rest of the potatoes into approximately 1/2 inch slices.
Brush both sides and edges of the potatoes with butter and sprinkle with salt. Place on the foil covered pan and bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until lightly browned. Turn potatoes onto the opposite side after about 15 minutes to brown the other side.
When the potatoes are finished baking, top up with cheese, bacon and green onions and continue baking for 3-5 minutes or until the cheese is nice and bubbly.
These also taste great topped with a little sour cream. Enjoy!

Mango Salsa
Ingredients
2 mangos, peeled, seeded and diced
3 medium tomatoes, diced
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced
1/2 C chopped fresh cilantro
1 tsp garlic, minced
1 c pineapple tidbits, drained
1/2 tsp salt or to taste
Juice of one lime

Instructions
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl.
Stir to combine.
Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to meld the flavors.
Serve with chips or on fish, chicken etc.
