THE regional administration in Region 2, (Pomeroon/Supenaam), has received four new mini-excavators from the Government through the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA), to improve drainage in residential and housing areas on the Essequibo Coast.Regional Chairman, Mr. Parmanand Persaud said the machines will be used to provide residents with proper drainage.
He said he would be meeting with officials of the Anna Regina Town Council and the five Neighbourhood Democratic Councils (NDCs), shortly, to discuss plans for putting the machines into operation.
Persaud said the focus will be to clear all the drains within the residential and housing areas and warned that earthen and concrete bridges over drainage trenches that do not have pipes or tubes with the required circumference will be dug out.
He called on the Town Council and NDC officials to alert residents and said the machines will be supervised by the regional administration and the NDIA. (Prabhulall)
