Murder accused admitted to killing under caution

MARLON Freeman (no address given) appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday to answer a murder charge.Particulars of the offence said, on Sunday, December 22, at Turtle Creek, Five Star Backdam, North West District, he murdered Timothy Adams in the course of a robbery.
Police Corporal Bharat Mangru, prosecuting, said the crime took place around 16:00 hrs, after the victim had left Powis Landing, located some 500 feet from his mining camp.
Along the route to his camp, he was attacked and robbed by Freeman and the body of the victim was found the following day with a wound to the neck.
The prosecutor added that police ranks from the area conducted investigations which led to the arrest of Freeman and, subsequently, he admitted, under caution, to robbing the deceased of $19,000 and killing him in the process.
The case was transferred to the Matthews Ridge Court, for February 3, 2014.
