LENNOX Stanley, of Lot 75 Wismar, Linden, was, yesterday, remanded to prison on a drug possession charge.Appearing before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, the 54-year-old defendant denied the allegation that, on Wednesday, November 27, at One Mile Wismar, he had 25 grammes of cannabis sativa (marijuana).
Police Sergeant Vernetta Pindar, prosecuting, told the Court that ranks were on mobile patrol when they saw Stanley sitting on a bench and a search of his person yielded a white plastic bag that fell from his left side shirt pocket.
When it was picked up, a quantity of seeds and stems, suspected to be of cannabis, were inside.
The prosecutor objected to pre-trial liberty for the defendant, arguing, successfully, that no special reason was provided by him.
The case was transferred to Christianburg Court, also in Linden, for January 8, 2014.
