HUNDREDS of graduates and their families and friends converged last night on the National Cultural Centre when the Government Technical Institute held its graduation ceremony for 2013. From before 16:00 hours the grounds around the National Cultural Centre were awash with people and cars as graduates prepared to receive the certificates they have worked so long and hard for.

Shortly after 16:00 hours the graduates entered the Cultural Centre which was decked out with tens of balloons to signify that this was a time for celebration. Before the graduates received their diplomas they were addressed by a number of speakers who included the chairman of Guyana Technical Institute’s Board of Governors, Retired Major General Norman McLean, the principal Mr. Carl Benn and Ms. Melcita Bovell, who gave the feature address on behalf of Minister of Education, Minister Priya Manickchand who was unable to attend..
