Victoria Four Corner double murder… Accused ‘Picture Boy’ to know fate on Monday

YESTERDAY the defence and the prosecution urged the mixed jury in the Victoria Four Corner double murder to return verdicts of not guilty and guilty respectively in relation to accused, Cyon Collier called ‘Picture Boy’.Addressing the mixed jury, defence counsel, Lyndon Amsterdam, representing Collier, who allegedly confessed to the crime on September 23, 2006, told the jury that his client is contending that the confession is a fabrication which he was painfully forced to sign after he was kicked several times on his scrotum, which left him with hydrocele.
Defence counsel also asked the jury to find that the prosecution had failed to make out a prima facie case against the accused, and as such they must return a verdict of not guilty for the murder of Ray Walcott, called ‘Sugar’, and Carl Andrews called ‘Alo’.
Amsterdam also accused the prosecution witnesses of grave inconsistencies in their evidence which the jury, he said, ought to reject.
On the other hand, State Prosecutrix, Mrs. Judith Gildharie-Mursalin, referring to the allegation that the police had kicked him in his scrotum which was so painful that it caused him to sign his name to a fabricated confession, said it was a ‘nancy story’.
She also urged the jury to disregard the charges of inconsistencies against the prosecution witnesses on the ground that they were unreal.
Justice Navindra Singh, the presiding judge, will sum up the evidence to the jury on Monday, after which he will hand over the case to them for their consideration and verdict.
