THE Rotaract Club of Georgetown recently donated a bookcase, toys and children’s books to the Paediatric Ward of the West Demerara Regional Hospital, the club said in a release.

The project fell under the theme: ‘We Care/Giving Back’ and the Rotaractors also painted murals on the walls of the designated area to transform it into a child-friendly zone.
The project’s principal objective was to promote a safe, child-friendly, healing environment through literature and play for children who are recuperating from ailments.
The release stated that the Rotaract Club of Georgetown believes that children should be adequately cared for, protected, loved and cherished. The club expressed the belief that children not only represent the hope of tomorrow, but the hope of implementing positive change for generations to come. It is because of these beliefs that Rotaractors found pleasure in painting murals that told stories of love, hope and tranquillity.
Describing the initiative as “one that is very close to our heart,” the club said it is aiming to make the project a sustainable one.
Meanwhile, the club expressed their gratitude to the authorities of the West Demerara Regional Hospital for allowing such a liaison that positively supports growth and development. They also expressed appreciation to Courts Guyana Inc, Giftland Office Max, Galaxy Tour and Transportation Services, Rotary Club of Georgetown and Rotary Club of Demerara for the support and sponsorship they gave towards making the project a success.
