Ministry of Tourism hosts hospitality training

THE  Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, in collaboration with Hotel Tower last  Saturday commenced a three-day hospitality training session for stakeholders in five main areas: front desk management, housekeeping, customer service, food and beverages and kitchen procedures.

The training has attracted participation from 177 individuals from 16 hotels, tour operators, resorts, and the general public. Some of the participating hotels and resorts are Aracari Resort, Duke Lodge and  hotels from the Rupununi.

altIndranauth Haralsingh, Director of the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA), highlighted that the tourism ministry, along with GTA, is committed to training and capacity building for the tourism industry.
He added that a skilled, educated and well trained work force is essential to cater for delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring quality, standards and a high level of safety, and reducing cost.
He also said that the employees are the most valuable assets of a business and encouraged employers to continue to invest in training for their staff.
The participants will receive certificates at the end of their training, at which point a quiz will be held and the five top winners in the different areas of training will receive a  trip to Kaieteur Falls.
