F&H Printing second countrywide competition set to commence on Friday

THE F&H PRINTING Establishment has concluded plans and will commence its second “Countrywide Million Dollars Plus” Domino Competition this Friday, with the commencement of the Corporation Zone at their 90 John Street, Campbellville location.

The club segment of the said competition will commence on Monday September 30 at Dynasty Sports Club, Aubrey Barker Road, South Ruimveldt.
Meanwhile, Managing Director of F&H Printing Hazim Hakh, who is a domino fanatic, is convinced that the game can be developed into a national calendar event, if proper structures are put in place and the development of the game fostered.
To demonstrate this conviction, F&H sponsored a competition of this nature last year and after seeing the response vowed to make it a calendar event, hence this year’s segment.
Negotiations are currently ongoing with other business entities in an attempt to make this year’s competition even bigger and better than last year, for which the budget amounted to G$3M, of which cash prizes amounted to G$1.7M and will be no less this year.
The competition is expected to attract teams from Georgetown, East Coast Demerara, East Bank Demerara, including Timehri, West Bank Demerara, Mahaica/Mahaicony area, East Bank Essequibo, Essequibo Islands, Essequibo Coast, East Berbice, West Coast Berbice, Corentyne, including Canje and New Amsterdam, Bartica, Linden/Kwakwani, Mahdia, Port Kaituma, Lethem and Mabaruma.
Hakh also mentioned that like last year a corporation’s zone will be formed to encourage teams from private businesses, ministries and corporations to participate.
Last year, the Ministry of Health placed fifth overall in the competition and also carted off the prize for the best performing corporation team and this year, the first and second place teams among every six corporation teams will be guaranteed a place in the playoffs, while a zone for female teams is being mulled.
The playoffs between qualifying teams will commence on the afternoon of Friday November 15, with the competition set to conclude on two days later with the final being played at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue, the same venue for the playoffs, while the Official Launch of the competition will take place this afternoon at F&H Printing Establishment Headquarters at 5pm.
