TWO persons are now homeless following a fire of unknown origin at lot 548 Recthdoorzee Housing Scheme, La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, last evening.

Homeless are security guard Godfrey and his partner Sherry who sells at the Parika Market. They were not at home when the fire broke out.
The fire quickly gutted their two-bedroom house.
Speaking with the Guyana Chronicle last evening, a neighbour, Shoba Narine, said that she was about to retire to bed and had just put on her air conditioning unit when she noticed a bright light outside.
The woman said that she pulled her curtain and saw that the house next door was on fire. She immediately alerted her husband who ran outside and began dousing the blaze, but to no avail.
According to her the house was fitted with electricity and household appliances.
The Fire Service responded promptly and managed to contain the fire.
