PRESIDENT Donald Ramotar said, in Berbice last Saturday, that violent crimes are a major concern to the Administration.
He said he is aware of the fact that businessmen need security in order to be efficient and effective.
“We need to produce and operate in a secured environment; that is why we are investing and the Ministry of Home Affairs is working on strategies to fight this gang that is going out there and robbing and killing people.
“We know we cannot put a policeman at everybody’s door. We need your help in developing your own Community Policing Groups (CPGs), your input in terms of providing intelligence to us is vital,” the Head of State acknowledged in remarks at a regional rice conference at Bush Lot School, Corentyne.
President Ramotar said the Guyana Police Force (GPF) is ready to provide the relevant training and the Government is willing to equip the Community Policing Groups to be efficient and effective in crime fighting.
