Speaking at last Tuesday’s statutory meeting of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) at Anna Regina, he said employment will be created for individuals instead of giving one contractor the job.
Persaud also told Councillors that a contract has already been awarded for the filling of potholes on the main road, especially at Charity.
He said approaches to the bridge that was recently constructed at Three Friends will be done while construction work is expected to start, shortly, on the other at Hampton Court that links the public road as that contract was awarded, too.
At the same meeting Persaud commended Dr. Afarah Khan for doing a very excellent job at the Charity Hospital.
He said the doctor is very dedicated to her job and attentive to patients.
Persaud also disclosed plans for the re-establishment of a minor surgery theatre at Charity Hospital, where senior doctors will be sent so as to improve the delivery of health care to residents.
He said eight new doctors are expected in the Region and, from among them, Anna Regina Health Centre will get a resident doctor shortly.
