Police to exhibit softer side at Sunday Gymkhana

THE public will see the Police exhibiting their “softer side” at the Sunday Gymkhana.

Hundreds of people are expected to converge on the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary, Georgetown, for the annual event.
It is usually part of the activities to mark the anniversary of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) but not staged at the same time with the rest of that programme.
Those in attendance on Sunday will have the opportunity to witness displays by policemen executing several stunts on horsebacks, others by the Canine Division involving dogs, fiery performances and gymnastics.
Over the years, the Police Gymkhana has attracted large crowds, amongst whom are some who have since opted to join the Force.
The Sunday show starts at 11:00 hrs and senior members of the GPF would be available “to rap with the public”, they said.
There will also be games, food and drink bars to make it a family fun occasion, the police said.
