R. Kelly concert… Morgan Heritage confirmed coming, another big name to be announced – Lumumba

JAMAICAN Reggae Group Morgan Heritage is heading Guyana’s way to perform alongside international R&B singer R. Kelly, Trinidadian Chutney Singer KI, and Chutney Band JMC Triveni at a massive show slated for October 19 at the Guyana National Stadium at Providence.

altThis announcement was made yesterday by head of the Mc. Neal Enterprise, Odinga Lumumba. The show represents a delayed appearance by R. Kelly, who was unable to perform in Guyana in August as part of the Jamzone summer events.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Lumumba said that in addition to the three new acts announced, discussions are ongoing with another “big” name in the entertainment industry, which will be made public at a subsequent press conference.
The new attractions to the show have occasioned upward adjustments in the prices of tickets, with the normal tickets being sold for six thousand dollars ($6,000) and the VIP tickets being sold for thirty-five thousand dollars ($35,000). Lumumba disclosed that the new ticket prices are reflective of value for money, and he advised those who have not yet turned up to have refunds of the cost of their August tickets purchased to hold on to those tickets, since it would be in their best interest to so do.alt
In a bid to confirm that the show will go on and artistes announced will be making appearances, Lumumba said the artistes will be here, and will arrive in ‘a perfect plane’.
On the issue of refunds, Lumumba said the process is ongoing, and when its gets too complicated and marred by dishonesty, the company will cease refunding tickets and those with tickets will have to decide if they will use it to enter the new show or stay away.
He said the company is not obligated to refund anyone, since the show was not cancelled, but postponed; in essence meaning that persons with tickets were not placed in a position where they paid for a ticket to a show which was no longer being held.
According to Lumumba, the refunds are being done out of compassion, and the company is already encountering cases where persons are trying to fleece them by claiming to have purchased tickets for higher amounts than they really paid.

The refunding process got started on Tuesday, and several persons who claimed to have purchased tickets for more than $3000 or $3500 were asked to leave their contact information until the promoters could verify that they had indeed paid those sums. Once that is proven, those persons would be refunded.
Yesterday’s press conference was also attended by the managers of Hits and Jams Entertainment.
