He pleaded not guilty to the offence that, on Thursday, July 25, at the Merriman Mall at Bourda, Georgetown, he unlawfully and maliciously inflicted grievous bodily harm on Vishal Jaikarran.
Police Corporal Dinero Jones, prosecuting, told the court that the virtual complainant (VC) and the defendant are vendors at the same stall. The defendant is always in the habit of teasing the VC, and cuffed him to the jaw, to which he received injuries. He added that the medical report revealed there was a swelling to the left side of Jaikarran’s jaw, and he had sustained a fracture of the mandaline.
Corporal Jones did not object to bail, so bail was granted in the sum of $40,000, and the case will be called again on September 16.
Meantime, both parties were bonded to keep the peace pending the determination of the matter.
