Laparkan awards bursaries for 2013

THE Laparkan Group of Companies, on Friday last, awarded children of its employees who performed well at this year’s National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) at the group’s Annual Bursary Award Ceremony which was held in the William Fogarty Limited Boardroom, Water Street, Georgetown.

altChief Financial Officer/Corporate Secretary of Laparkan, Mr. Sahadeo Ramkirath congratulated the awardees and wished them continued success.  He reminded them that this is the time to cement the foundation for their future.
However, he said that while focus must be placed on their studies, this should be balanced with physical and mental recreation.  He noted that there will always be pressure through competition, peers or otherwise but they must remain humble, set their priorities right and apply themselves.
Ramkirath also thanked the parents for playing their roles in ensuring the success of the awardees.
The Laparkan Bursary Award Programme started in 1997 with the objective of motivating and supporting employees’ children who take the NGSA.
Under this programme, the children of employees who obtain 65 percent or more of the allocated marks receive a monetary prize, and the top three students also receive trophies.  Moreover, each child continues to receive monetary rewards for five years providing that certain conditions are met.
According to a press release from the Group, 94 children have been awarded since the commencement of the programme.
