A taxi driver attached to Green Ice taxi service of Lot 1809 Festival City, Georgetown was remanded to prison on a causing death by dangerous driving charge yesterday.
Leroy Griffith, 24, appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman accused of having caused the death of Feng Zue Fang on Friday, May 31 by driving motorcar HC 2428 in a dangerous manner.
Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunt, prosecuting, indicated that the prosecution would like to make an application based on advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) based on Section 112 of the Traffic Offences Act pending the determination of the matter.
Sergeant Hunt objected to the pre-trial freedom of Griffith on the ground of the seriousness of the offence and the penalty attached.
The case was postponed to September 10 while bail was refused and both of the defendant’s licences were suspended.
