Judge to sum up in Festival City murder trial on Friday

ON Friday morning, Justice James Bovell-Drakes will sum up the evidence in the murder trial of Charles Anthony Woolford, who has been charged with the murder of Latoya Woolford.

The state’s case, as conducted by Miss Dhanika Singh, is that the accused had committed the offence on February 8, 2009, and that the evidence was clear, thereby depriving the accused of the defences of self-defence, accident, and provocation.

On the other hand, attorney–at-law, Mr. Compton Richardson, for the defence, is asking the jury to come to their conclusion on the basis of the evidence led and they would faithfully conclude that his client was not guilty of the crime for which he has been charged.

The prosecution is alleging that a knife was used to commit the crime.

The judge has asked the jury to keep an open mind until he hands over the case to them on Friday for their consideration and verdict.
