FIVE-YEAR-OLD Duvena Lall of Charity Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast, Region 2 wants to grow up and enjoy a normal life like any other person, but is presently suffering from Congenital Acyanotic heart disease, which was recently diagnosed at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC).
Now a member of the Paediatric Cardiology Clinic at the GPHC, cardiac surgery has been recommended for little Duvena, and she is listed with several other children for heart surgery in India in Mission Heartbeat 2014.
The Three Rivers Kids Foundation will be sending another group of children to India for much-needed surgery in February 2014, and is appealing for public assistance in this respect.
Duvena’s father visited the Office of Region 2 Chairman Parmanand Persaud on Wednesday, and detailed his daughter’s sickness and his financial problems which are preventing Duvena from travelling to India for the heart surgery.
The chairman, in response, issued an appeal to all citizens in the Pomeroon/Supenaam region to generously contribute towards the cost of Duvena’s heart surgery and the travel to and from India.
The Three Rivers Kids Foundation is a charitable organisation dedicated to helping Guyanese sick children whose parents are too poor to afford them medical care overseas. To date, the organisation has helped over 100 children receive life-saving surgery.
Persons wishing to make a donation towards little Duvena’s cause are kindly asked to contact her parents on telephone nos. 626-6437 or 672-0057.
