Police report three more Monday armed robberies

POLICE have reported that three more armed robberies were committed on Monday.
In one of them, Alladin Adonis was shot and wounded when he and an accomplice, who had a gun, attempted to rob a businessman, not named by the police, but is a licensed firearm holder, at Agricola, Greater Georgetown. That happened about 19:15 hrs when Adonis, 34, of Grove Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, accompanied by the other man, was thwarted in the process of the robbery bid.
Adonis was injured in his groin and admitted a patient, under guard, at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), while his companion managed to flee.
One of the others was committed at Dr. Sen Gupta’s Dental Clinic, located at Lot 122 Laluni Street, Queenstown, also in the city, from where $1M cash was carted off by two men who were allowed to enter the premises after they posed as patients.
The doctor, an Indian national, as well as his staff, was ordered to lie face down on the floor while the duo took away the money and escaped in a waiting motor car.
The crime was committed about 09:00 hrs when the clinic was open for business.
Akbar Auto Sales and Furniture Store, on North Road, Bourda, was the other city location that was robbed of an undisclosed sum of money the same day about 15:00 hrs.
Two men ventured into the business place and asked for the Accounts Department, stating they were going to do a transaction and went to the upper flat of the building. There, they made the employees lie on the floor and relieved them of the cash.
