SURITA Johnson, 37, of Lot 1453 Cummings Park, Sophia, Greater Georgetown, was another drug defendant remanded to prison on Thursday.
The mother of three pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on Tuesday, July 2, at Imbaimadai, Mazaruni River, Essequibo, she was in possession of 11 grammes of cannabis (marijuana).
She was refused bail in spite of a plea by attorney-at-law, Ms. Latchmi Rahamat, on her behalf, who told the court that the defendant was a bartender at Warren’s Shop, Imbaimadai.
The lawyer said if the application is successful, Johnson is willing to subject herself to any conditions stipulated by the court.
However, the case was transferred to Kamarang Court, for September 16.
