DWAYNE Hamilton, 23, a plumber of Lot Z 24-144, East Turning Point, Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was remanded to prison yesterday, on a robbery under arms charge.
He appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman and, after the Administration of Justice Act (AJA) was applied, he pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which alleged that, on Thursday, June 27, in West Ruimveldt, being armed with a gun, he robbed Adrian Pestano of one Blackberry Storm cell phone valued $50,000.
Police Corporal Renetta Bentham, prosecuting, objected to pre-trial freedom for Hamilton, citing the seriousness of the offence and the weapon allegedly used.
She added that, if granted bail, the defendant may interfere with the virtual complainant.
But Defence Counsel Paul Fung-a-Fat argued, in vain, that the booty was not found on Hamilton.
Prior to adjourning the case, to July 8, the magistrate issued a summons for Pestano who was not in attendance.
