Guyana Boxing Board of Control inks major television deal with CMC

THE Guyana Boxing Board has inked a major deal with regional media giant Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC).

This is according to president of the board Peter Abdool, speaking to Chronicle Sport. Abdool said that the deal will ensure that all fights run by the GBBC are televised and shown in some 26 countries, among them the USA.
“We have established a relationship with CMC Sports where all of our fights are shown to some 26 countries,” he said. The boxing board head said that this relationship will help in paving opportunities for the fighters as it seeks to showcase them to the wider world.
“Since we have commenced this relationship it has afforded a number of our boxers exposure and publicity, thus showcasing what we have here in Guyana to the wider world,” the GBBC president said.
Abdool pointed out that the relationship with CMC was inked after executing a number of cards at a very high professional level, adding that under his leadership he intends to implement a number of other initiatives.
He said that based on reports given to him by CMC the viewership to the fights for Guyana continues to grow rapidly stressing that more is yet to come.
Abdool declared that with the sport of boxing exposure is critically important in landing major deals and opportunities for several of Guyana’s young and upcoming boxers.
