GINA staff writes Granger on effects of budget cuts

WE, the undersigned staff of the Government Information Agency (GINA), are not unaware of recent comments attributed to you (David Granger) alluding that there are no effect of cuts implemented by the combined Op0position to the 2013 budgetary allocations of some agencies. With regards to GINA, we wish to point out that such comments are totally untrue. As of the date of this letter, we have not been paid since April of this year. This has resulted in management, following consultation with us, implementing two groups and having them work on alternative days, with only critical staff coming in on weekends. This is in an effort to reduce personal expenses in getting to work. This has resulted in our personal production output being reduced.
In addition to the said cuts depriving us of the opportunity to perform our tasks fulltime, we are finding it extremely difficult to meet our individual financial commitments. Some of us have dependents, including children, commitments to financial institutions and routine bills, including utilities. The consequences of not meeting these commitments need no explanation.
Further, the current situation has not only eroded morale, but has created serious doubts with regards to the security of our jobs. Such uncertainty is extremely worrying and only adds to an already saddened state of mind following the financial depravity being experienced in successive years. We can only hope for a swift resolution of this situation so that normalcy in our work and personal lives can be restored.
