POLICE Public Relations Officer Ivelaw Whittaker disclosed, yesterday, that the Force is still awaiting legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on the draft report it had earlier sent to the DPP as it relate to the death of Shane Prahlad.
The 17-year-old teenager died in an early morning accident, on April 15 this year, on the Meten-Meer-Zorg Public Road, West Coast Demerara.
In May, the police had announced that one person was held to assist with the investigations into how Prahlad met his demise.
The teenager’s sister, Tulsidai Prahlad remains in a critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), struggling to stay alive.
The mishap occurred when another motor car slammed into the one in which the siblings were travelling and they were immediately rushed to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, also on the West Coast Demerara, before being transferred to the GPH where the brother succumbed to his injuries, nine days later.
The autopsy on the deceased revealed that he had suffered a fractured spine, severe head injuries and hemorrhaging.
Tulsidai had returned to Guyana shortly before her father passed away and she was hit by another tragedy when Shane followed him four days later. (Jeanna Pearson)
